... new foster has wedged himself in the back corner under the bed. It breaks my heart when you can’t explain to them they are safe now. Hoping he comes out soon for a drink at least. Especially as his preferred food is dry! Will have to buy some cooked chicken for bribery I think, and I suspect I know what my protein source for the next few days will be too .

He doesn’t really understand treats yet. I will get him there though x

He will soon get curious and start exploring. They always hide when they go somewhere new. x

He is around 2, stray, came in at the start of lockdown and was being housed in a cattery space while they waited for foster space and while he had treatment as was unwell. Now being tried in foster space with me. He hid at first there too so I am not unduly concerned, I just want to see him properly. He has eaten well while I was out of the room. Hoping he will explore more overnight

Good luck with the foster ☘️ @Orla, hope he feels confident soon. Does he have a name yet?

Great news that he has eaten well!
I look forward to updates about him. I’m sure it won’t be long before you gain his trust - he will sense he’s in kind hands. X

Hopefully you can gain his trust
Do you know whether hes been previously social and hes just scared?

Oh @Orla well done on fostering the poor little one. I hope things settle quickly for him and he starts to realise he is safe. You are safe now, sweet boy.

he will eat if I am out of the room, and is happy to be stroked as long as he is squeezed in a gap under the bed. He did pop out and stand up behind the bed at one point so he could have a better look at me and then started eating some dry food that was in a bowl down the back of the bed in case he wouldn’t come out. So baby steps but we are getting there. He bonded with the staff at the cattery eventually so hopefully will come out of his shell again soon enough x

We had a bit of a breakthrough. He has discovered he likes strokes and likes the spare bed. Still does quote a bit of hiding but he is coming on really well. I’m so pleased with him. It’s lovely watching the nervy ones let their guard down :)

Ahh fabulous! So glad to hear he is beginning to relax a little!

Thank you for sharing photos of him! He looks like a lovely boy! I must say, he looks very comfy and content! You’re obviously doing a wonderful job!

    Does he have a name?

And does your girl have anything to say about him being in the spare room?

He had the name he was given when first brought to rescue but that doesn’t suit him now so I am trying out a few. Currently trying out Oliver. My girl knows he is there but isn’t really bothered as I have fostered before. Although he is such a sweet little lad that he could end up being my first foster fail!!!

Have been reading this thread, and thought would this nervous kitty win over @Orla heart!

Just seen the pictures of what a stunning cat he is, and I can see why he definitely could be failed foster, plus how he's improving.

Will just depend if I can integrate him. As he spends most of his time under/behind the bed, he isn’t really pushing to get out of his safe room but I do worry about once I am back at work next week that he might slide backwards if he is kept alone too long.
