so my wii has come out of retirement & the game which had been left hanging out of the actual console is working ok. however, the disc which was carefully placed in the box & stored beside the console somehow has decided it now wont work but it was perfectly ok last time it was used

i get to the part that i click start & an error message comes up which wont let the disc play it just says there is an error but what with i dont know what the problem is with it  bought it brand new with the console about 14 moths ago if not more. The disc is pefect without a scratch so i cant work out what the problem is- can anybody please help me?

one of our games does that. We have to press the reset button, and clean the disc (even if it looks clean) then put the disc in and restart. Dunno which one works so we do them all, but the game then plays :) x

You said the console was sitting for a while..

Have you tried cleaning the lens that reads the disk?

I was just checking on line..it seems there's a special cleaner for it.

But if it plays other disks and not that one, it would seem more like it's the disk thats a problem.

You can take the disk to a game shop.. one that sells/trades games...and have them do a mild grind to it to remove any minor scratches it may have.

I've done this with several games before. It works good as new and is a lot cheaper than buying a new disk.
