Was the breeder a reputable one? What breed of dog is it? How did you find this breeder? Being a KC registered litter sadly isn't the guarantee it used to be. Cataracts are certainly something that should have been picked up in previous vet checks.

I'm no expert and am not sure what can be done finance wise, but would be worth reporting the breeder to Trading Standards

Wait, how is the vet at fault?
Are there signed documents by this specific vet for this specific puppy to say all was well? Or has the breeder potentially falsified things?
How old was the puppy when she had the check?

You seem to be very angry at this particular vet. Only hearing your side of things, I'd personally be more inclined to be pointing the finger at the breeder.
Surely they have more to gain than the vet if they were to lie about a less than well puppy......

    Aren't cataracts hereditary?

Are the KC documents real do you think?
Have you reregistred the puppy to your name with the KC?
Have you got a MYKC with the KC so you can check whether the pedigree names of the parent dogs are real and owned by the breeder and/or the stud dog owner.
We’re any health tests (as opposed to vet health checks) done on the parents of the puppy?
    What breed is the puppy?

Hiya guys it’s £9000 including all check up etc that’s the rough estimates could be more, her kc paperwork is real the breeder is licenced and yes I have signed vet documentation, the vet said my puppy is in perfect condition and perfect health , I don’t see how anyone else is at fault , the breeder had been assured all pups were in perfect health so me and breeder belived the professional as that is what she gets paid for , I’m really stuck and absolutely heart broken as my baby girl is the one suffering

And yes it’s true the breeder has more to gain but she was not the one that made the huge mistake she is not the professional vet she has to believe the professional as I did. I feel that they are both partly responsible but it’s factual I only bought the puppy as perfect bill of health was provided which has now come to light as false documentation

I have been to the same company vets in a different area and they have confirmed that the paper work is real and the vet that has signed it is in their database

£9k does sound very high for the surgery, is this due to breed or the size of the puppy? Might be worth a third opinion from another vet's surgery. From a quick google, average cost for the surgery itself seems to be more like £2-3k.

No it’s just standard price 2-3k per eye she has in both eyes , plus check ups ,medicines on going appointments it’s going to be around 9k but I really don’t understand why that is the main question of the group I asked for advic
Not money I don’t even mean to sound rude it’s the truth , I just want to know if there’s anything I can do as I feel that people are in fault and I’m dealing with there negligence

The operation can not be done by a vet she needs to see a specialist which is £270 just for examination it’s a major operation also life threatening as she’s so young it’s not about money I want justice! No one is going to give me money I wouldn’t never even expect that I want people at fault to take responsibility and I want justice for my baby

Get a confirmation from a separate vet so you have the opinion from two specialists who are not connected saying this dog is unwell, requires major surgery and the cataracts the dog was either born with or would have developed early on. Report the breeder to Trading Standards using the link above.

I don’t know how much help Trevor Cooper would be, but worth having a check with them to see if they have any advice to offer

Often when you buy a pup with genuine KC registration, it comes with 4 weeks free kennel club insurance activated by thr breeder - was that started and then lapsed or never started?

Whatever way, i would think you have a good chance of proving that this pup was sold to you as 'faulty goods ' (puppies are treated as any other goods for sale in law)

The breeder should take the pup back and refund in full.

Or have a chance to put the 'goods' right by paying for the op.

If the pup was initially insured and this lapsed due to you not keeping it on - i really don't know if the breeder could use that against you or not.
