My partners dog visited the vets last weekend for blood tests and a check up. A week later I was giving him a cuddle and I usually check his collar and discovered a sore patch.
Can anyone confirm if the attached pictures is where they shaved him or something else and should we be concerned?

    Many thanks in advance.

I think I'd have a word with your vet if it's worrying you, better safe than sorry.

I think I'm correct in saying blood is normally drawn from a dog's leg, at least with my dogs this has always been the case. If the sore is on the dog's neck it could be caused by the collar chaffing. I'd check the collar for rough/sharp bits.

It looks like a Hot Spot but I’d get it checked by the vet as it looks very sore.

My dog has had two blood tests in the last couple of months and the vets have shaved his neck both times.

My vet always did the front of the dog's neck too. But that does look a bit sore; maybe the collar on the bare skin rather than having a bit of hair to ''cushion'' it?

It looks like a hot spot to me too.
I noticed one of my dogs used to get similar when wearing a normal collar.
We changed to the semi slip alaskan type collars from ebay and always remove them at home and make sure they are dried before re use and no more problems.
For hot spots I use either lavender essential oil, sudocrem or athletes foot powder to heal them.

    Hi all,
many thanks for taking the time to reply. We believe it’s from where they took blood but the vet failed to mention this to my partner. The collar has then not allowed it to breathe. I think we’ll also consider a different style collar too.

    Thank you all x
