It looks like a daisy - seed could have been lurking in your compost.

Can't make it out...is it a flower or what?

  4. It looks like a flower - and that is the clearest I could get, would it turn straight from a seed into a flower! actually at first glance I thought it were a mushroom

So many plants look the same at that stage but I would guess Petunia or Pansies.
Are the leaves shiny or matt?

I was wondering if it was a fungus....there shouldn't be any rogue seeds in new compost.

  8. And it was new compot - it was a little windowsill kit , the seeds, compost, seed tray and a cover in a box.

DT, could you take a photo of it from the side, I am pretty sure its a fungus /mushroom and am searching fungus sites to try and find it for you, a side view might help in its identification.

Cant you tell I've got bugger all to do today.....
