Hi I purchased my lovely hamster last week for my little boy who is madly in love with him. Sadly over the last week my nan who we live with has become ill and having trouble breathing she has been to the doctors who asked if we have a new pet as this could be the problem. Sadly he thinks it’s the hamster and to get rid of him ASAP. I am devastated and don’t want to take him away from my little boy. If I was to keep the hamster in my room away from my nan with the door shut would it be possible her reaction to him would calm down and we could keep him?

    What substrate are you using?
It could be rather than your nan being allergic to the hamster, it could be that she is allergic to the substrate.
