    Hi!

I just adopted a husky/shepherd mix, and I’m trying to find her a name.

I think I’d like it to be art themed, but I’m also interested in historical/literary names.

She’s a black dog with a tan belly and yellow eyes.

    Some ideas so far:
    Pastel
    Artemisia (Mia for short)
    Sable (like the brush)
Sienna or Orche (Oaker) for her eye color
    Kahlo
    Monet

I also thought about Cassat, but I already have a cat who’s nickname is Casi.

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

Need a picture really, to see what name we think suits her
but some that have come to my mind are
    Titian
    Manet
Rembrandt, who allegedly painted the adoration of the shepherds ( see the link? :D)
Greco ( after El Greco) painted a picture of same name as above
    Ariadne ( Ari for short)

    Ochre?
Love sienna and sable. I think names need to be short and sweet but fine to do a long name with a short nickname!
Monet is really cute but seeing her face she looks like a Sable/Ochre :)

I think that Sable would be a great name! In the picture she looks like she would be called Sable (to me anyway)

    Attis, Phrygian god of vegetation.

Dogs spend so long sniffing through bushes, it's always made sense to me.

Sable is a good name my inlaws had a dog called Sable although for some reason it got shortened to Lou-la-belle or just Lou-Lou, I think most of your names are very masculine, what about Gertrude Jekyll, she was a leading lady in the Arts and Crafts movement https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gertrude_Jekyll.

Except that when you shout it across the park, people will think it's 'senna' and that you desperately need treatment for constipation.:Arghh

What about Frida instead of Kahlo? Or Peyton?
