Can anyone help? My 10year old female kitten gets hay fever every year affecting her skin, the vet has recommended piriton, but this is not an animal who takes tablets kindly! Do any homeopathic remedies have any value?

My cat has allergies...I tried a homeopathic vet for him but unfortuantely it didn't work for him and he got worse so I had to put him back on steroids, homeopathy can work very well for allergies though so IMO it's worth a try.
BUT I find homeopathic tablets worse to give than normal tablets, as you're not supposed to touch them and you're not supposed to give them with food.

Have you had your cat allergy tested? It's not foolproof, and can throw up false negatitives, my cat was allergy tested and came back negative for everything, but it may be worth thinking about as it may give you some idea just what your cat is allergic to (I had my dog allergy tested and he's allergic to various grasses )

Thanks for the reply. The vet suggested to me last year that I could have allergy tests done on her, but she said that whilst it may identify what it is Flo (cat) is allergic to, it wouldn't provide a solution and due to her age and her immense fear of the vet(!) I wouldn't want to put her through a long series of desensitisation treatments which may not work at the end anyway. I bought some 'palatable' evening primrose stuff for her last year, but shortly after she started it, she got a throat infection, I'm not sure if it's connected or not, but I don't know if I want to take the chance of giving it to her again just in case - poor Flo!!!
