    Hi

    I’m new to the forum.

Has anyone heard of Evolutionary Dog Pedigree (known as EDP)? It’s an alternative to KC registration.

We are looking for advice and information but there isn’t much online.

Just looking for some advice and guidance

    Thanks

I'm not familiar with EDP. Someone else here may well be.

If the sire of your pup is not registered, then your pup cannot be.

It sounds as though the Breeder has not been honest.

I would be a little cautious of a Breeder who behaves this way.

I have had a look at the EDP and, basically, it means nothing at all.

It appears to be a website, set up by a Breeder of pups of a non recognised colour, and they will provide you with a pedigree and a registration to their organisation for your pup.

In other words, your pup would be on a register, held by these dodgy breeders.

It's of no meaning or value at all.

The bitch owner has cut a corner here - either they didn’t research properly and didn’t realise the stud wasn’t KC registered, or they knew but thought they could get away with it. If they’ve cut a corner here it would make me wonder what other corners they have cut in regards to this litter.

That is also my understanding. Yet another ploy by backyard breeders and the like to hoodwink prospective customers.

Are you asking if you can register your dog with the KC with a dog that is currently registered with EDP?

You will not be able to register your puppy with the KC only the breeder of the puppy will be able to do so.

I suspect the breeder of the puppy cannot register the puppies with the KC because one or both of the dogs he bred the litter from were not KC registered or there is a there are endorsements on the pedigrees of the sire and/or dam which prevent KC registration unless lifted
Basically you have been lied to by this breeder if they gave any indication that the puppy had a type of registration that was akin to the the KC

This would be my first time breeding, so I’m sorry if I’m not following along! The lady I brought him from sl they couldn’t Register him because he is a merle and they don’t recognize Merles. I figured they was just unaware that you can registered a Merle. I’ve been calling over to the ukc and they’re not answering they phone and website acting weird!

You cannot register a merle Bulldog.

Merle is not recognised. I'm afraid there is no way round that.

There is a good reason merle is not recognized either. Breeding merles can result in dogs born with sensory defects and worse. Breeds that don't naturally have merle in them already have a good reason for not wanting to introduce those genes in to the breed.
