    New Year means pet insurance renewal for Phoebe and I just got the papers ...
    I am absolutely livid :mad::mad::mad:
    It was £12 when I started 5 years ago, never claimed, last year I was paying £33.11 a month and now they want £50.57!!
    Too late tonight, but I'll be telling them where to stuff it first thing tomorrow morning!!

    I dont pay much more than that for 4 cats with petplan (ages 4 to 6).

    My goodness @Joy84, that is a shocking increase!! :eek: . What can be their reason for that, when you have not even claimed?! Has Phoebe passed a certain age ? I know with some companies the premiums rise steeply when the cat gets to 10 yrs old. My boys are 8 yrs old and their premiums have risen very little on Pet Plan.

    Huck is still only in the £30s he’s coming up to 11 and I’ve claimed a couple of times with Pet Plan.

    He’s on the top cover though (12,000 per condition per year) his excess has increased to 250 I think as he’s 10.

    Changing to £7k with Pet Plan tomorrow.
    It'll cost me £18.21 a month which means I can put £15 a month aside for potential self-cover fund ...

    It actually sounds as if they are trying to withdraw from the Pet market by deliberately pricing themselves out

    That is a ridiculous amount. I hate it when that happens, especially if you have a cat with some pre-existing conditions as you could feel unfairly trapped.

    That is stupid money!!! Jemma is 12 and I pay less than that!!! Yes, her excess is higher but that was to be expected. Did you try to negotiate a new deal with them? Sadly loyalty stands for nothing with these people anymore....:mad::(

    I'm afraid that's how insurance works. No company is going to be prepared to take on a potentially expensive animal. If your pet has conditions you have to declare then basically you're stuffed. You either stay with the company you are with, change but accept you will not get the cover you require, or go it alone. Bare in mind that insurance companies talk to each other. Lie and you will get found out.

    Rang them today and cancelled the policy. The guy said he could see if they would be able to give me a better offer, I told him I'm not interested.
    From 19th January Phoebe will be insured with Pet Plan for £7k at £18.21 a month.
