Done.

Looks like they are seeking yet more tightening down in future. I wonder if it'll get to the point where you'll have to visit the vet to have your pet's flea treatment applied?

I have to admit I've always been highly skeptical of the claims made regarding flea treatments and waterways. Let's face it, this is going to be a dog centred issue seeing as you are highly unlikely to see a cat jumping into a pond/stream/river when out and about, and does enough flea stuff really wash off swimming dogs to make any impact baring in mind how much insecticides that are pumped into our waterways from farming and industry? It just strikes me as yet another tightening of the screw on pet ownership ....

Do you really feel that to be true?
I got hints of it during our lockdown when the media brought up fip too often for my liking. I felt there was something against cats.

I can see through them wanting more responsible pet owners. Do you think it's something else at play?

I never use the stuff. My cats are indoor with access to a catio, they've never had a flea treatment or fleas.
My dog had a bad reaction to advantage/advocate, can't remember but the one you can only get from a vet and I never treated him since despite access to fields and forest walks, he never had fleas.

If I had an outdoor cat I think I would use it as they are connected to tape worms afair. But if a cat is wormed regularly are fleas still an issue? I'm not too sure on that.

I do feel that conscientious pet owners could be unknowingly over treating with the stuff and that could be down to vets pushing application more often than is necessary. The stuff is expensive, I imagine there's a huge mark up on it.
I did the survey.

I think we over use chemicals on our pets, yes I use spot on on the dogs occasionally, usually only when I see a flea, I have only done them once this year so far, the cat hasn't been treated in years as she is indoor only, but I also don't deworm the dogs either and send off poop samples twice a year, I think people just blindly deflea/worrm their pets as they are paying huge monthly fees to their vets health club schemes and because they are paying for it they give it to their pets.

I also think the environmental impact of dogs swimming so soon after treatments is hugely damaging to the environment,
