Well we have 4 but we only had 2 for a while

    Good points:
They keep each other occupied you don't have to worry about leaving them for a couple of hours if necessary
If you have an existing dog the new one will learn things a lot quicker by watching him.
It's great for socialising the new dog to other dogs.

    Bad points:
They learn bad behaviours as fast as good
There's always going to be a few squabbles
They can always team up to outsmart you and probably will

I have 7 dogs all loved and cared for the same.

I would never actually only keep the one dog now,as i feel they are company for each other.
Only my view, you all may feel differently.
Most of mine are paired up and the doodles i have sleep in a big heap on top of each other.
So i think two dogs are better than one.

    The more dogs the better!
I have 18 (well 11 that are staying)
And its like one big family

Everyone has fights now and then
    but all in all
They love eachother and would defend eachother to the death, they are great companions and keep eachother occupied and happy. :D

I wish I'd gotten a second dog ages ago, it's been brilliant, only downside for me is it's now costing me £2.50 a week for food instead of the £1.25 I was paying before I got Abby :001_tt2:.
The first couple of days I did think I'd made a big mistake but that was very short lived, a lot of people I spoke to said they felt the same way when they got a second dog.

I much prefer two and don't think I could ever go back to one.

Barney has his SA and was really bad when left but since having Maya, he doesn't cry and make a fuss.

It's real comfort having the two, I always worried I would love one less but I don't.

I'm sure you shouldn't any problems, I'm sure the second dog will be just like zeb although I fear you may have to take 'em for timeouts to stop playing every 5 minutes.

Maya and Barney don't really play together but bear tries to play with everyone and everything, the poor guy has two scars on his nose form our "lovely" cat

Nicky Another springer cross as OH is obsessed with them lol

Ive only ever had one dog and always felt it would be nice for them to have a friend but both other dogs werent dog friendly and i think thats mainly down to not havin another dog around all the time

11 dogs  dont think i'd fit 11 here lol well maybe if i get rid of oh and the kids :001_tt2:

Food bill wont be much more as a 15kg bag is lasting zeb 7-8weeks at the moment and we buy them monthly so no real difference in the cost there

Yeah daisy although zeb is very submissive he'll prob give in, except when its food as hes a fattie lol Im hoping a friend will help his SA aswell as they can keep each other company :D

All good points oh is very excited and cant wait havnt told the kids either so it will be suprise for them fingers crossed everything will go well!!

Pro - There are certains games and play that can only be done with another dog.

Con - Double the quantity of poo to pick up :(

I dont think i will have two dogs again. Even now i feel guilty that i spend more time with one of my dogs, and i feel that perhaps the other one feels left out. I dont think you can bond so closely with a dog when there is two either. Maybe it depends on the individual dogs.

Thats said, i dont regret getting my second dog one little bit. They have been a match made in heaven, never had a scrap or altercation, and seem to really understand each others needs and differences, and there is a huge amount of mutual respect between them. Its also amazing how different in character they are, even though they have been reared in exactly the same way.

    Hi

Im in the same boat and would love a companion for Pippin. How did you come to the decision, as my OH still isnt sure! He doesnt want to put Pips nose out of joint.

How did you find the dog you are going to see? I hope it works out.

It would certainly feel weird to have an extra dog in the house, but as said before, im sure you will get used to it!

    good points,
if your feeling off and cant play with them they can play with each other
if ones of thems feeling off you have one to play with
its nice to watch them play with each other
all dogs have a different personality so you learn more
    they make you laugh
gives you more to talk about

    bad points
twice as likely to trip up, especially if they follow you
cost more for food, insurance etc
if one has to go out to vets etc they miss each other
if you feel off and they both wont leave you alone
they may have their odd scrap

overall i think having two has more benefits the bad points a few and far between and so worth the love you get from them

See oh wants him, i wasnt sure but we had a really good chat yesterday all day about how we could work around two dogs. Nothings set in stone untill we see how he gets on with zeb and the kids oh and cats

zebs very laid back and loves other dogs company so thats helped alot

we found him through a friend, its going to be very strange having two and i imagine that i'll spend the first few weeks trying to stop them running amuck in the house lol!

My pair came home together so i've not had to decide to go from 1 to 2. I did think about fostering a 3rd recently and could see how it was difficult for people to go from 1 to 2 and worrying about upsetting the applecart.

    Pro's
Not really much more work, can walk /feed etc together.
Don't feel so guilty about leaving them alone.
Great to watch them interact & play.
    Another character to love

    Con's
Costs as you have to buy 2 of things.
    Extra poop
    Loss of space in car
    Possible squabbles
Can be more awkward taking 2 dogs places (tho i have big dogs lol)

I don't feel like our dogs gets less attention because we have 2 and i enjoy their different personalities.

    Good points:
    Company
Good exercise (always tearing about with each other)
    Good for socialisation
It's always better to have 2 dogs than one I think :D

    Bad points:
One will do something naughty and the other will follow
If you have 2 young ones you have to train them at the same time which can be tough
They tend to nick eachother's food
2x more fur to deal with!!!
