Firstly I never planned on having Anna christened as I don't do church or believe in god.

But I can still have godparents right??

I have no idea who we would ask, how many are you allowed and who do people normally choose?!

Friends of ours had a Humanist Naming Ceremony
They named Guide-Parents to guide their daughter through life in the same way as God parents but with out the religion.

You can choose as many as you want. But not too much. Just the moderate number of Godparents.

Forgot to say - most people have 2 or 4 God or Guide Parents.
You choose people who will help you raise your kids the way you think is right and who you would trust to bring up your kids if the worse was to happen to you.
A lot have 4 one couple and a back up couple ;)

My best friend get my kids if anything happens to me. It was her and my sister but sadly my sister passed away several years ago.

I think the religious 'way' is to have 2 female, and 1 male godparents for a girl, and 2 male and 1 female godparents for a boy.

There is no real 'norm' any more as so many people like different things and there are no actual restrictions. The guide parents thing sounds cool! I've got three godmums and one godfather, only bother with one godmum out of all those though :)

Well, it depends upon your religion, my youngest brother had 30 god parents. 15 were Male and the another half were Female.

    Look up Naming Ceremony.

My mum had one of these for my little brother bout 2 weeks ago. Its basically the same as a christening without the religious aspect. You have Special Adults, these are basically God Parents.

Really cheap to do, can have all your friends round, and off to the pub when its over :)

You could have a naming ceremony and name guardians of sorts for Anna and Lewis
