I have heard people say this before, but I believe it is down to the dog and the upbringing. I have been brought up with them all my life and none of them have ever been nasty or bit anyone. I find them very nice, loving dogs :)

    No, absolutely not!

No breed of dog turns on it's owner, ever, Hense blame the deed not the breed.

    I wouldnt have thought so.

They are a guarding/herding breed, so maybe slightly more defensive and protective, but i dont think they just bite without provocation.

Of course you will always get ones owned by idiots who dont train and socialise, but thats human error then, not the breeds fault.

I would imagine she's thinking about the time in the 60s and 70s when the breed got a bad name for being aggressive. Before Rotties and Pit Bulls were picked on for being 'devil dogs' it was the Alsatian/GSD that got the blame for dog attacks. If I remember rightly there were some aggressive lines around then mainly through overbreeding/ignorant breeding by BYBs etc. but temperament is more stable these days, in fact I'm sure I've read somewhere the police reckon they've lost their 'edge' a bit.

I tell you what I've picked the wrong breed if I wanted an aggressive dog  :D

Anyone who has a GSD like that obviously hasn't trained/socialised them properly.

Well, I dunno what stupid owners they have come across with german sheps, for them not to socialise them, to bring them up so that they could be like that, but mine hasnt a bad bone in his body :p
I'm not saying he would protect us or the house but I dont think he would ever turn!

At the moment he is whining because he can see the cat!

Henrick is the softest dog I have ever met, he gets bullied by yorkies, he is my 2nd gsd and my first one (Chance) was very laid back as well, my cats are more of a threat than Henrick.

And Natik my girl is well balanced. She's wary of my mum's cats because they don't like her and she doesn't like the sounds buses make when they go past her :)
