Fractured pelvis

    Hi everyone I have a 3 year old saluki who was hit by a car 5 days ago X-rays done can't operate need any advice on cage rest and pain relief for my baby😥

    I think you need the advice of an orthopaedic specialist. Any wrong handling could be disastrous. Tramadol is a good pain relief but I'm wondering if she needs stronger like a morphine Fentanyl patch, if only for the first week of recovery. I'd seek specialist advice or ask your vet to do so on your behalf.

    Gosh how awful. No experience here but lots of mind games needed. Trick training. Puzzle balls. Sorry not very helpful.

    My neighbour's terrier had a fractured pelvis from being run over by his father's land rover - I saw it happen - the driver couldn't have seen the dog run out. As a middle-aged dog, it was probably easier to keep her quiet. She made a good recovery and lived to be just over 18 years old.

    Thanks for replies had check up this morning switched to tramadol and caprofen for pain relief she's eating drinking and going to toilet well will have a vet check every 2 days going to X-ray again Tuesday to check healing xx

    How awful for you and the poor dog I don't have any experience in this condition but did not want to read and run Hope everything heals
