Huge congratulations! My Clumber spaniel Ziggy also earned his Stud book number this week. His first field trial and he got 2nd place (first was not awarded) guns' choice and a special trophy for best novice dog!
    Amazing feeling isn't it?!:)

That's brilliant! :) What an achievement! It was my third run with her, but she just had pups in mid-July, then spent August/September sweeping up on the grouse so I was a bit apprehensive running her. She picked all her retrieves nicely, then the judges had to make a cut and we were one of the four chosen to go through to the last round :).

Just waiting for more runs now...

Nice photos. Is that in the Scottish Borders? Think that is where I do some grouse counting. The headkeeper is a very good friend!

    Hi Helen,

Yes, the photos of the grouse moor is up in the borders, did you recognise Horsey? It's my favourite shoot - lovely people, fantastic ground for good dog work, and nice sized bags at the end of the day :) .

I did. I noticed the butt's, although never saw them in the flesh as we were up there before he built them. We have 2 weekends up there a year for the grouse counting and stay with Craig. Have worked with him in the past and known him for 10 years. He helped me start my business up too.

Fab place. He has done wonders with it in a short space of time.

What a difference a day makes . Yesterday we were out on our syndicate shoot in gale force wind and rain (thoroughly miserable and by the time we'd finished flighting the duck pond I was wishing I was dead!).

Today, however, was glorious! Out in Big Sky Country, beautiful sunny day, wouldn't want to be anywhere else :)

Pupster says "It really is far too cold and windy to be picking up today, mother...":

She hates the wind, could partly be due to those huge Dumbo-esque lugs of hers! Doesn't look like she's ever going to grow into them.

Aw, thanks Rona :) . The award really meant a lot as it's nice to see her natural talent recognised - she's my Do-a-bit-of-everything-pickingup-beating-sweeping-trialling Dog, none of my others are this versatile!

I wonder if she's going to be "that special one"

I had mine as my first dog unfortunately, none of the others have come anywhere near

She definitely is that "special one" Rona - I know I'll never have another dog like her. Gave her a rest today and took a couple of the others picking up instead. Wow did I miss her when looking for a lightly pricked hen!

Glad the season's coming to an end now. 5.5 months of solid hard work and the dogs need a rest. Just two more days left, then a lovely long break before training for the summer tests begins :) (warmth, sunshine!).

Two little dogs, looking demure (even though one of them is a greyhound on crack, despite being just a few months off her seventh birthday!):

My sweet, youngest girl has gained her stud book number - I'm so proud of her! She ran a fantastic trial earlier in the week, couldn't have gone any better :) .
