It wasn't long ago I first pointed my camera towards the sky, still learning a few techniques and saving for better equipment..

here's my other astrophotography pics to make better use of this thread :p

The first stary pic I took was this one back in september on a trip to South Africa...

This was the best I could do in UK
    [IMG]

    Then practiced photographing the moon
    [IMG]

Up till now Jupiter was the only planet I was able to find and photograph
    [IMG]

Now I've fineally photographed Saturn! :D

It's not the best shot ever, I'm hoping in the next few years to have better kit for the job, but am chuffed I found it and photographed it! :D

    They are amazing!

How do you even find the planets? I wouldn't know where in the sky to look!

Oh lord that made my ribs hurt. I'm sure I turned purple laughing so much  this surely can't be good when you're sleep deprived!

cat001, those photos are stunning! I love the photos of Jupiter and Saturn - you must have some pretty powerful equipment to even get a photo of such far away planets :D

Can any one else see the scary face in the middle of the top pic?

I just look for the brightest stars in the sky, which isn't too diffecult where I am considering there's not many visible stars to begin with! lol

Face the sunset, point left...thats roughly the direction saturn and jupiter are in, whatever direction that is. It's mainly been guess work from me lol, I'm hoping to learn the sky as I go along.

Saturn's been coming out in the early hours of the morning, had to wait till 1am to photograph it last night.

This is what I've been using to photograph it!

though I would very much like to upgrade!

I attached my camera (Canon 7D) to it via a t-mount and t-adapter. I also use my shutter release switch so i don't have to touch my camera when i'm taking the picture.
