At last my beautiful chi is pregnant

She has a very confusing season but we hit the spot this time.

Just back from the vets for a scan. She is 5 weeks and a day. Unbelievable the vet was able to determine 3 pups and possibly another one. He was amazed as this was the best scan he has ever done. There was so much detail, we even managed to see limbs and heart beats, and considering that mum is only 3.4lbs, i was in awe.

3 + pups is great as it lessens the likelihood of a cesarean. The daddy is nearly half the size of my girl!

Oh how exciting. I hope they are red and white like mum but who knows :tongue_smilie:

BTW its not the one you see above

Those fat pink nipples give the game away lol.

I have always fed pregnant bitches on puppy food (as advised) as it has more calories than the norm. I was told that its best from about 5 weeks right up until the pups are weaned.

I will find a pic of my girl and post it up

They dont want storms pups to get too big which we were told can happen when feeding puppy food but she is on Arden Grange and is being moved onto the arden grange prestige tomorrow which is great for pregnant bitches

cant wait to see a pic

I never thought about the pups getting too big from mums food but it makes sense, i will have to ask my vet as everyone has such different opinions.

Congrats on your girls pregnancy, I look forward to hearing you updates and some photo's; she is stunning.

I fed puppy food whilst my girl was pregnant and most of my friends do too.

Ah thanks everyone. I have been hopping about all day with excitement. And to add to the madness my other girl Paris, (the one as my avatar) has started humping our giant Siberian tiger. She was only in season a few days before Lilly. Can she come into season again so quickly? I was wondering if she may just be reacting to the hormone change lilly must be going through?

The whole saga of getting Lilly pregnant has been very odd. She was not very swollen when i first noticed she was humping everything so i waited a couple of days and no change so i took her to meet her intended. Within 5 minutes she did the business and 40 minutes later we were on our way home. I kept my eye on her but she did not change, no more swelling and no blood. 6 days after the first mating i noticed some thin red blood. I took her back to the boy, they mated, she was very keen. I took her again 4 days later.
Anyway, she fell on the first mating and before her bleed. Confused, i am :001_unsure: :D

I am going to feed her half puppy food and half her normal food and see how she does
