Can anyone please tell me whats going on with facebook and posting photos on there?

I have seen people write numerous status's about not being able to copy their photos and re use them, Infact I posted a new picture of me and Zeus other day and in the description bit it said 'COPYRIGHT 2011' Which I did not right myself on the picture?

Are pictures not safe on facebook anymore? Can people access them or something?

Not sure whats going on but I'm able to copy my own pictures off facebook and haven't had the copyright message come up when uploading and I have put some on only a few hours ago.

Pictures are never 100% safe from others getting them and copying them no matter what settings you have put on. My advise is NEVER put any personal info on facebook and if you want to keep certain photos safe from being copied then simply do not put them on facebook.

One of my friends had her account hacked a year ago and the hacker got hold of her address. She had sent it to someone in a message but private messages are not safe either, Never have been. She started getting strange hate mail in her normal post and was getting similar stuff sent in Emails and the police finally tracked down the person doing it and she had never heard of this person and was not on her facebook and had facebook private. This person had got all her details from facebook though.

Never put your real name with D.O.B in your profile along with where you live or where you work along with photos you don't want strangers getting hold off. Don't use apps from phones pinpointing where you are etc. It's all common sense really but i'm surprised at how much info people put on there not realising that facebook is not 100% secure

I wonder if this is to do with something that happened today when me and my daughter were visiting her school.
We went for a review session and on our way out another teacher was asking the children if they had facebook accounts and if they had the privacy features setup for safety.
The teacher said the majority of them didn't. She went through my daughters account with us and showed us how to make it safer and she highlighted the fact that a lot of user's photographs are being used in 'tags'...the principal is that once you have posted a photo onto a social networking site , the picture is free for anyone else to copy or use. Some pictures have been used for reasons the people in the pictures wouldn't agree to.
