ok people i have a young three day old kitten that is extremely underweiht and skinny ... it seems to have problems suckling which is why it is underwight... aswell as this but the being small means that it was being pushed off of the teets when it did manage to latch on ..... i am extremely worried about it a it is crying out alot and i am unsure of whether it is in pain.. i have it on a hot water bottle that has been wrapped in a towel. the formula that i was told to use is :
    3 oz condensed milk
    4 oz full fat yoghurt
    3oz water
    3-4 large egg yolks

i want to know if this is ok ... also as i have no specialist equipment i am giving it to the kitten with one of those nurofen droppers but i have an extremely small straw and i was wondering if i can use this as it would go in the kittens mouth easier??? i am going to be up all night ... let me emphasize that he is exttemely underweight and was at the point of death when i rescued him ... please reply fast!!! thankyou

    Dan

I'd ring your vet for an emergency call out. I have no experience with feeding kittens but if it's that dire, then call out your vet. Sorry can't help any further.

Do they not have an emergency call out number? My vets leave the number on their answerphone for out of hours treatment.

I just did a quick google check and the formula you posted seems to be the consensus for feeding a 3 day old kitten although make sure the water is boiled and cooled and make sure the forumla is skin temp. Also there's the risk of the kitten aspirating milk into the lungs. I found a site with some tips on feeding such a young kitten.

I just had a look at the Golden Valley website and there is an emergency service, I'm sure they'll be able to give you advice over the phone. If not I found this one Emergencies they have an emergency phone number, they should be able to give advice over the phone as well.
