Just read this on the news, so sad and just makes you realize the importance of always never allowing a dog in the same room as a new baby without someone there no matter how much you trust your dog:(

Aww that is so sad. Sounds like the dog just thought the baby was one of her puppies. I don't think she should be destroyed for this, it was the parents fault.

even when a baby is in bed the dog shouldnt have been allowed into the babys room, dog can pannic when a baby cries,we still use stairgates around our home to stop our little girl and the dogs getting into that sort of situation.

The breed of dog alone tells you that it's a lot closer to wild dogs (wolves) than the most other pet dogs, it's natural instincts will be that much stronger so firstly what was the couple doing having a dog like this with a baby in the house and why leave it alone, doesn't matter whether it's on the floor or not, it was left alone, going by the fact the dog had time to take the baby and the amount of damage done, it wasn't just a split second thing.
Stupid owner, he should be prosecuted and the dog placed in a more responsible home not put to sleep.

I voted that it shouldnt be PTS, if the dog wanted to really harm the baby it wouldnt have been found alive. Stupid humans

I don't think there is anything wrong with having that breed of dog with a new baby in the house, I think it is wrong that the baby was left alone with the dog, or that the door wasn't closed properly so that the dog couldn't get into the babies room!

If the dog had wanted to do the baby damage, it would've done.

One day people will realise that you shouldn't leave ANY breed of dog alone with children!

it wont open for me so I cant see what happened. If the dog has dragged the baby around then probably the dog shouldnt stay in the house as it might happen again. No one is going to be keen on taking on a dog with that history, whether fair or not. So maybe putting it to sleep is kinder than it spending the rest of its life in a kennel.
