Does any lovely person know where I might find a car harness for large dogs that has a seatbelt clip involved- one that goes clunk-clip rather than loops around the belt itself? Have been looking but with no joy.

Also- just spoke to my local friendly police station and they told me there were no laws about dogs being loose in a car- just comon sense about dogs which distract the driver or interfere with the steering mechanism (?!) I was told there were laws about dogs being harnessed. I think there should be...the dog needs to be protected, as do passengers and the driver, in the case of an accident.

Sooo- I'm not happy with the safety of the makeshift harnesses we're using at the moment, and I want to get proper safe ones for the dingbats- hence the renewed search. Any ideas?

I got a lead type one of Ebay with a clip for the harness one end and a seat belt clip the other.

I have a Clix one that works well. Not sure how large they go though.

We use normal harnesses, and have bought seatbelt clips that attach to the harnesses. They were £5 in a local pet shop.
