Disappointing

Obvioulsy we were hoping to get Buster involved in as many socialisation activities as possible and over this weekend have taken him to two dogs shows, he has loved it and has done really well. We now have him interacting with other puppies, he really is a happy little thing.

I am a bit annoyed however that we can't enter him into the puppy class until he is 6 months. Yesterdays show was amazing Buster entered everything and loved every minute. He behaved beautifully - todays was a bit rubbish he couldn't enter as she was not a 'dog' and he could not enter the puppy class because he's not classed as a 'puppy' now whilst I appreciate restriction on KC events and even the companion shows this was a family show - the companion show was next door.

I know rules are rules but not being able to enter a puppy into a 'fun' / 'family' show is a bit silly. Buster behaved very well and I don't consider him too young when he attends classes already. the reason given was that they can't start going to dog shows if they can't go to puppy classes - most people I know have started their puppies at classes at the age of 12 weeks after jabs.

Oh well just a bit of a rant lol! :wink5:

Buster is a 3 months old Beagle - he's very well behaved now however evening and night-times are too stressful for us.

All the shows that Buster can enter are miles away - we just wanted to do it as a bit of fun as they are called fun dog shows!

We live in Plymouth so the shows we have attended so far have been in devon/cornwall

    You know what?

I would take this challenge on the chin and get training, training, training!

Make sure that when he CAN enter at 6 months, he steals the show :D

    Poor Buster.

Most Australian shows have Baby Puppy classes for pups aged 3/4 to 6 mths. The pups can only compete against other babies and are not eligible for BOB until they are over 6 months.

Baby Puppy classes are a great learning experience for youngsters and they are fun to watch as no one expects perfection in babies. One of my Pugs at 12 weeks stood like a little statue on the table for almost a minute then jumped up and kissed the judge on the nose. The judge must have liked the kiss as wee Mary took out Baby Puppy in Group.
