I'm having to pay my car insurance this month, and want to do it in full.... is it cheaper to pay upfront on credit card that 6 months interest free or to pay monthly on debit card.... they want £1300 to pay monthly or £900 to pay upfront.

Interest on credit card is 11% apr but only after first 6 months but I dunno whether wise to apply for a credit card. Thinking of putting my credit limit at £1000 so not tempted to spend.

i would do it on credit card, there's no way you should have to pay and extra £400 to pay it monthly, that's ludicrous!

as long as you can pay it off in the 6 months interest free bit then you're no worse off.

i was told £100 extra when i changed mine last month my reaction "FIT?? FOR WHAT EXACTLY?", told them wehre to go and paid it in full and got a 'discount' i actually laughed down the line at the bloke on the other end.. all recorded.. hopefully used in training lol.

i`d say pay it up front on the credit card as you can then try to pay it off during the interest free period. the price seems way steep though, our insurance for my oh and me (i`m still a learner otherwise it`d be cheaper) is only £367 per year and that for us both

It depends if you can trust yourself to pay off the credit card, when I was younger I used to pay the minmum amount and ended up oweing a fortune, I cut up all our credit cards, paid them off and I wouldnt touch one with a bargepole again.

Just make sure your are disciplined & don't start adding a few things here & there on it as it is so easy to do .... mine soon added up after a few months as I wasn't
How is your credit rating? Have yoiu had debts before? Just make sure you only apply for one card as if you apply for a few (if one turns you down) this will create a 'footprint' & affect your credit rating

I have a bad credit history all for £12 and because RBS are retards!

I changed address and set up direct debit on mums card to pay my credit card as she used it for interest free period, then the next month mum didn't open bills as assuming it was getting paid, then one day I got a phone call asking why it hadn't been paid. Apparently DD wasn't done properly and they gave me bad rating for not paying, cost me over £100 in charges and now I hate RBS and I am paying that card off £6 a month instead of my mum!

Check your rating on Experian (I think) & it will give you a score & show all points against you - it's scary how much info is on there. Unfortunately even one late payment can affect you, I had something similar years ago & it took forever to get rid of.
The problem is if you are turned down for a credit card because of that payment this again will add to your poor rating - it can be a vicious circle unfortunately.

I used to have a Fronterra 3 door 2l the sporty type. first quote for insurance was £1500.00 shopped around and got it for £1100.00 We were told they were very easy to break into so were in a high group.. The following year insurance went down to £700.00

my Landrover discovery was £550.00 I wrote another car off with that and can honestly say my insurance didn't go up.. And it all went through the insurance..

My N reg escort. bit sporty looking was £222.00

My R reg Vectra 1.6 16 v LS blacked out windows alloys etc, extremely boy racer looking is About £500.00 would have to check with 1 years no claims.... In fact I am not only thinking boy racer looking but think maybe drug dealer looking..lol I am constantly being pulled in it.. have my details checked asked where I am going and what have I been doing.. Infact was pulled friday..lol put the details on FB...

I think some of these insurance companies have their own bibles also I am sure it goes on your credit ratings..

Hope you get it all sorted and don't have to spend too much.. I went on one of those sites you search for the best insurance.. Some quotes went over a thousand.. i went for what I got for my money..

My Punto is group 3 insurance, but even though its parked in Liverpool Suburbs, its a posh place, that's full of older citizens, which I would of thought would lower the price. I'm only 20, maybe that's why? When looked at insurance for Preston.... it was about £400 more expensive because there is a high rate of 'insurance claims' there!

I been through insurance comparison sites and everything to get cheaper deal! They want £1300 on my own with the discount added, Had to put dad on to keep price down!

And your not that far away from me in Warrington! Mum used to drag me to Ikea when I was little.......
