The Internet is a big part of life now, you can do anything on it from paying bills to phoning your mates on Skype!

So the question is, how big is the Internet in your life? Do you need it? Could you do without it?

Personally I need it and I see it as essential

I didnt experience the internet properly until my 20 's when we got our first computer and even then you would get frequently disconnected and have to wait for the dial up to finish. If someone rang you'd often get cut off too.

I dont see the internet as essential. There are thousands of people who don't have it and they cope....just as we did before it came along.

I don't like the way it is abused to prey on children and vulnerable people.

I don't use internet banking or buy things online unless its a really trusted site and that is rare for me to do.

I use it an awful lot and it is the main part of my job, however if it went down for a week and I didn't need to factor in work it wouldn't bother me. Longer than that and I would start to miss it.

I literally do everything on the net, work, food shopping, banking, shopping for other things, comps, forums, pay bills, even book docs appointments

I couldn't afford it when I first moved out, and went 3 years without it, I do like it, but it's a luxury not an essential. people got by without all this technology before and we could do it again.

I could do with out it but I wouldn't want to :p
I hate it when the internets not working at home  - I use it to come on here, keep up to date with my Brother in Australia (when he first went out there it was a monthly phone call) and now one of our girls is off at Uni skype is brilliant for keeping in touch with her. :D
And I do a lot of shopping, booking tickets, paying bills and banking online - it's so convenient :)

Its like everything else what you never had you never miss.

I could live without it but I would miss it too.

When I first moved to Moggy Towers I went without it for about a year and didn't miss it. However, I use it for quite a bit now, I would probably be climbing the walls for the first week or so.

Then I would go back to reading my books like I once did....

Derek, on the other hand, would end up in a padded cell!!! He would go nuts without it.

I have to admit, I probably have a bit of an internet addiction - the same with my OH. He even sorted out the broadband for our new house before we'd even booked the removals van!

I actually hate the 20 minutes of my tube journey in the morning where I don't have internet because I'm underground :eek:

I think I wud miss it at first but wud get used to it ....I mostly use the net for socialising etc so wud just revert back to times before net ....I don't really use it for financial too much so wudnt miss it in that aspect ....I think people who remember the days before the net wud prob adjust a bit faster lol ..in some ways I think it would be nice .....people might start interacting more lol ;)

I rely on the Internet to live as I am a freelance writer, therefore the Internet is very important to me :)

i need it, i got cut off a week or 2 ago and thought i would stall paying for another couple of weeks when it wouldnt be financially crippling to do so.. i lasted about 3 days...

most of my communication is done on the internet, i much prefer it to talking on the phone. I dont watch tv, all my viewing is done online (dont have tv license). Couldnt live without it!

The very thought fills me with dread!!!

I need it for work, some shopping, watching programmes/films, getting my kindle books, keeping in touch (and being nosy), Skyping my mum ( yeah she's lives in the same street but so :p), reading film / book reviews, listening to the radio, zooplus(!),

Heck without the Internet I wouldn't have my three monsters! Or be able to apply for jobs

    *hugs internet* never leave me!

Well that's me if the interweb isn't working:blush:

Ive been sociophobic now for over 12 years , I never leave the house its just too terrifying for me.
Without the internet id be so isolated and lonely it would be unbearable ... for people like me it is a lifeline and essential.
