    I know there are two types of collars, one is buckle, what's the other called?

    half-check, choke and prong are three others. There's probably more.

    I could be wrong, but how about "clip"?

    i'm talking about how you attach the collar, either by buckle or "clip" (is this the correct name for it?)

    yes its a plastic or metal 'clip', 'clasp' or 'fastener'...I think it just depends on what you want to call it...

    And leather/material with buckle/clip - they are all forms of 'flat collar'.
