I took Chip for his walk not long ago, I have been taking him late because of the hot weather.
When I got off of my scooter to pick up after him, my leg gave way and I fell dropping the extending lead
which made quite a bit of noise and frightened Chip. Chip went to run off because of the noise of the lead
I shouted stop, wait which is what I have been using to train him to stop at curbs etc and he instantly stopped
and turned to look at me and came back to me, even though he was still nervous and frightened at the lead handle dragging the floor.
I am so proud of him for stopping and coming back even though he was frightened,
he then sat staring me, I think he was wondering why I was sat on the floor lol

Bless him for being such a good boy! Hope you're OK with not too many bruises from your fall?

Ouch! Poor you - hope you’re ok.

    Well done Chip! :)

I sometimes attach Jack’s flexi handle to my belt when I’m walking on slippy mud, etc. just in case I fall over and drop it. If attached with enough slack so as not to impede the action of using the handle at least he can’t get spooked and scarper! ;)

Though, usually like Chip he stops and looks and comes back to check I’m ok! :)

We have safety leads like this for ours - not that i use them but i make OH use one because he is forever dropping them

Well done @Rosie64 and Chip. Teaching a firm "stop" is incredibilty important IMO and nice to see your efforts have paid off and kept him nice and safe x
