OH is really upset tonight, Basil has been a bit moody lately but it all came to a head tonight.
We had been out and Basil was happy to see us come home, greeted us nicely and then spent some time on OH's hand while watching tv.
OH then put him back on his perch and Basil leaned forward and suddenly without warning he 'kicked'/swiped at OH's face clawing two long gashes either side of OH's nose...He then struck again and has bitten straight through OH's top lip..

There was no warning and no reason we can see for this attack.

OH has simply shut Basil in his cage and left the room.

Anyone have any idea what might have caused this change in Basil?
He is in good health, normal weight , 8 years old , not clipped, there have been no changes to the household lately and OH has made no sudden changes to himself or his routine with Basil.

Any advice welcome ..OH is very shaken by this.
