Cat unwell after getting wet

My 15 year old cat went out as usual to do her business on Saturday night, but stayed out longer than usual. When she came back she was soaking wet and very cold. We dried her off and gave her lots of cuddles and she seemed fine. However, the next morning she was very unresponsive and lethargic and refusing to eat. She has spent the last 36 hours curled up in her basket, occasionally walking slowly to drink some water and use her litter tray, but she won't eat or engage with us. We think she may have caught a chill from getting so cold and wet. She is an ex feral who has never been in a carrier before so we don't want to inflict the stress of a vet visit on her if possible. Any suggestions about what we can do to help her?

She definitely needs to see a vet or at least you need to speak to one, but they’ll probably say bring her in.

I’d suspect the long spell outside may have been due to her feeling poorly and perhaps disoriented as a result, rather than the cause of her being poorly now.

Almost three days of not eating is very close to the critical stage for a cat and I would think she is quite unwell.
Hopefully it’s an infection or something they can treat but she really needs to see a vet.

Just to add, I understand about the carrier issue but if she’s that poorly she probably won’t struggle much and without trying to scare you, it could be a matter of life and death at this stage, so she should see a vet today if possible.
Despite some drinking she could well be dehydrated and need fluids at the very least.

Thanks for all your replies. She ate a small amount yesterday evening and we got her to the vet first thing this morning. They did some blood work and gave her an antibiotic injection. She is much improved. More responsive and affectionate and she even went outside for a couple of minutes this afternoon.
