this is my first cat to ever go in heat and the research i've made doesn't satisfy me, so i came here hoping to find some answers!
my cat is 7 months old, this is her first time going in heat. i was wondering how long does the mating season last? and how many times is her oestrus cycle going to be repeated?
i'm really hoping i can get the answers i'm looking for, thanks for reading!

Cats can mate all year round, there is no 'mating season' as such. She will call for around 7 days every 3 weeks according to the books .... cats don't read the books; they can call for 10 days, and call every couple of weeks. During this time she'll want to attract the attention of a Male, so she'll shout loudly (hence 'calling') and spray urine everywhere.

I would arrange for your girl to be neutered ASAP. Having just one litter as being a good thing is a total myth unless you are a responsible breeder. Good luck.

we were planning on neutering her after she's done with her cycle/season. even though i'm quite confused, isn't mating season when most cats are in heat? because the other person said that a mating season doesn't exist at all.

They call mating (kitten) season from spring to about October but as already been said cats can and do mate all year round.

Yes, all year round. Some may have a short break during autumn but usually only for a couple of months.
As I said before, there is no mating season for domestic cats. You can spay her as soon as she stops her current call. You'd probably be safe to book her in for next week as it's likely she'll have finished calling by then, particularly if this is her first call.

You need to wait for the call to finish.

between 4 days and a week generally. Some vets will spay during a call so it might be worth asking

As TM said, book her in for next week.

For future reference cats should be spayed from 1kg in weight (from 8 weeks), before their first heat cycle. 7 months is quite late to be spaying her.

Make sure you are extra careful to ensure she doesn't get out, calling girls can shoot out the door very quickly and kittens when she is only a baby herself is dangerous for her
