Oh heck. So grateful you've brought the almond subject up @ewelsh .

I have white blossom almond trees and pink blossom almond trees, so does my friend. Just this month she's roasted some nuts...the pink blossom ones. They are also called bitter almonds and are deadly!! Apparently cooking them kills off the cyanide but she has been eating raw ones too. 7 raw nuts can kill a child. Blimey it's scary. I've spoken to her, she's safe!

Thing is I knew this years ago, but had forgotten. Nature is dangerous.

Note to self to buy a pink blossom almond tree for the garden. Mr HB likes nuts…

I had sherry last night at our tapas night at a friend’s - two sorts of light (much too dry for me) and then a dark, syrupy one which was much nicer. One of our friends works in wine, so she always gets fancy stuff. I don’t drink wine so she doesn’t know what to do with me!

I then was ex-communicated as I said I preferred Harvey’s Bristol Cream :)

Not really a fan of sherry, unless it's in a trifle (I love sherry trifle)! I used to like it when I was a child, but went off it as I got older.

No one wants my potato vodka recipe then?!? I looked it up, there's cooking and yeast involved too normally.

After tidying up, and special trip to the bin, I did manage to make a fabulous cottage pie, enough for 5 extra servings. Reheats lovely.

That’s great @Jaf - are you feeling more confident about trying things at the moment? I was proud of husband last night, he ate three olives (he dislikes them greatly), two of which were on a stick with a fresh anchovy fillet (which he has never had but strongly disliked the thought of), topped with red onion salsa verde thing. Lovely! Well to me - not him but still, he tried it :)

We just had savoury mince and mash, essentially deconstructed cottage pie. Delicious!

I've never eaten an olive, I just imagine them to be oily and bitter. They seem to be so popular!

Only oily if they’re in oil @Ali71 :)

Keep trying them @BarneyBobCat - I never liked them, then suddenly did. A fresh anchovy fillet is a totally different beast to tinned.

Only bother with green olives though, black ones are horrible :)
