A thread to discuss cookery and all the gadgets that none of us need but have to buy! I keep thinking about a Ninja foodie - do I really need it? My larder is already full of unused equipment

OK I have a burger question. How do people eat a tall burger? I couldn't physically open my mouth big enough. The only person I know who eats burgers uses a knife and fork! (I do eat cheese burgers, no extra stuff, they fit my gob).

Also...pickle is cucumber?

If I have a giant burger, I often dismantle it if it's got extras like salad, onion rings etc in it and then eat the bun, actual burger and bacon/cheese or whatever as one and the accoutrements as a side order. I will use a knife and fork if I have to. Yes @Jaf gherkins are a small form of cucumber I believe, which are then pickled.

I'm going to have a go at brining a chicken at the weekend.

Gosh I love pickles!! Pickled gherkin, pickled cucumber.

I make a simple pickled Cucumber sliced and put in malt vinegar, salt and sugar.
A couple of years ago, when I was still growing veg, I picked all the young courgettes and made big jars of pickles. It was really easy, jusr pouring the warm spiced pickle over the ribboned courgette but I ate so much I made my tummy very hurty 🤣 it was explosive 🧨

Two joyous things about that plate of breakfast @BarneyBobCat black pudding and beans in a ramekin! If they’d have just “flapped” the eggs so they were white over the top it would be perfect :) I could cope though as the beans are not running wild!
