Depends on the intent of the photographer and purpose of it to begin with. After all humans are animals ;) Do think the insistance to restrict things as they may offend is completely out of control now.

Lmfao, I personally dont think so. I'd wonder of the depravity of the mind being offended tbh. :p

I didn't see the original photo either but I'm sure it wasn't pornographic in nature. I read in our local paper the other day about a man being sent to prison for having sex with his dog so yes if you posted a photo of such goings on they would be rude. I can't say as I find pictures of mating animals particularly funny but if I opened a thread with such pictures I would just close it again and move on unless is had offensive text of course.

We now have 2 threads referring to one closed yesterday. As this is itself an interesting debate we'll leave it open but not if it's just to prove a point about the closure of yesterdays.
In reply to the question , bestiality would obviously be very rude and unacceptable. Animals pleasuring themselves, yes, quite rude and inappropriate for a family forum.

This may contain offensive images. so please do not watch if under 18 or sensitive by nature. - Is this what we need to do nowadays :(

But this thread was aimed at discussing this topic in a general level, not about this particular photo. Naturally it was inspired by the censored image as I could not find anything offensive in that, and have posted far worse animal images my self.

There could be photos of animals tortured or worse etc, those would be inappropriate for a forum. I think for sexual images of animals it would depend on their context, which is a bit like saying "the text attached".

This is a sincere question, as I did not see anything rude in that particular image, as there was no "pleasuring" in that picture. I am genuinely puzzled now what images I could post. That is why I posted the link, but not the image. This way we could discuss about it and similar images without anyone feeling offended.

I don't think that particular image is "rude" or "offensive" but it isn't to my taste or sense of humour so I just wouldn't have taken part in that thread. However if there had been any text suggesting something else was going on (other than having a scratch) then I can see why some members might have found it rude although to be fair there have been some pretty frank discussions of a sexual nature in the health part of the General section of the forum that haven't been censored which I suspect some members would not want their children to read so perhaps a "policy" is needed that is applied throughout rather than ad hoc.

    Hmmm...
Personally I don't find pictures of animals doing what animals do rude. I wouldn't take a pic of my dog pleasing himself, but I don't see an issue with people that do.

But then I have caused debate of fb for posting a pic of my dog upside down airing his furry teabags. I don't get it!

When I was a child growing up on a working farm our parents had many awkward questions when we saw the animals doing what they do, but instead of shying away, they used the opportunity as a teaching moment...I don't get why that is so hard for some people, it is part of life after all.

I don't see the harm of pictures of dogs male or female spawled out on the sofa, it's just a picture of a relaxed dog doing what dogs do. Anyway it's almost impossible for short haired male dogs not to show off the bits, that's life so who really cares,

You mean like people who get offended by their thread being closed and start a public campaign about it?
Nah they’re not trying to garner attention or anything....

As for the gif in question, no, it wasn’t offensive, it was just juvenile and a waste of bandwidth - hey, OP asked for opinions.
But what do I know, I always thought the goat memes were hilarious, but not everyone agreed on that either. Hrm... Perhaps I should start a thread asking how people feel about goat memes.

You know, maybe it was the context in which the bear gif was posted, at the heels of another closed thread, as a thinly veiled “up yours” to the mods - IDK. But last I checked, mods are humans too, and a certain section on here take great pleasure in constantly berating the moderation and basically telling them they do a shit job. That’s not very cool either.

We have had productive conversations about moderation and it led to two more mods which IMO has been a good thing. General comments like “the moderation sucks” comments aren’t helpful. If you (general you) feel that strongly about it, take it up with Mark or address the mod in question directly. They *love* getting PMs complaining about moderation ;) :D

You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.. So why try?

I agree with all of you and could not understand this particular censorship, as there have been posts with very rude innuendo lots of time. We should have a policy we are able to understand and which is applied to everybody equally. Why not try to discuss about that and together decide what is appropriate and what is not?

Perhaps we could start by asking one of the mods to explain what the policy is regarding discussions of a sexual nature or those containing sexual or otherwise "rude" innuendo - for instance is it the use of certain words that will result in censorship or closure such as "see you next Tuesday" or descriptions of sexual acts, or images that whilst not sexual could be interpreted as being such by some members or is it just a case of a thread being reported so therefore being deemed as having offended "someone". Is there an actual policy?

    Shout out to the mods @SusieRainbow @simplysardonic @lymorelynn @westie~ma

I think it's all about context really and if it comes with any words attached.

E.g. It can look like the bear is just scratching itself, but it could also look like it's pleasuring itself... personally although I haven't seen the original post I suspect it was posted for the latter... in which case then yeah I do see it as inappropriate. Would I be offended no, but then that's just me.

    http://www.petforums.co.uk/help/terms

It does mention 'adult ' content in the terms and conditions , and also the 'right of the site to delete any contentious material'
Read it all through, see what you think.
