iS CLOSING DOWN.???? It make of been a bit slow over the last couple of months but hey.......so is.......... Aquarium Plants & Planted Aquariums and a few other threads but they havent been closed down from lack of usage......Adult should of been re named because Adult gave it a raw deal. I think it is nice to be able to come onto ONE site and be able to enjoy all about animals with in all their sections, some say why have an adult thread.........well WHY NOT? if we cant have a laugh and a joke with each other in an adult manor in an adult area then were can we go,,,,,,,,,,,and dont say a PORN site because that is not what it is all about AT ALL. it was an area where over 18's can go and have a laugh and joke where some are too the knuckle, we are all old enough to decide if we want to go in there or stay away, being hidden didnt help either as alot of members now have heard about it being close and ALL WANT TO JOIN IT. Why not call it Welshies Kitchen were we can go and have a really good laugh and not embarass the younger members. We are NOT showing our body parts for anything like that. I think it is GOOD to have some thing like this on one site we love so much and saves us signing into other sites just for the priviage. I AM NOT AMUSED THAT IT IS BEING CLOSED DOWN.. I have had alot going on in my life just recently which made me feel suicidal at one point, but I came back in here to make a thread to say hello on general, this place is like my second home with many many freinds made over the years. It have kept me going.............do not shut adult down, re open an area and rename it but also say it is for over 18's.

from what i read on the locked thread it were closed down because of the worry younger members were registering and gaining access obviously its the internet and no one can (not even the mods) make bullet proof checks to ensure someone is of that age before allowing them access.

we had an adult section on a rat forum i used to go on. it was just somewhere were the older members (if they wanted to) could go and tell jokes and have a laugh without the younger members. i see no problem with an adult section on here, it might be a pet forum, but why then is there a general section? it has nothing to do with pets either, but that is being kept.

this will get closed like all the others about the adult section without an actual reason for it being closed other than the mods have decided.

i think if there is a concern younger people can gain access (under 18's) then it's either time to scrap membership altogether under a certain age , or leave things as they are , just my opinion tho!:)
tbh i wouldnt be happy at all if i had under 18's on here and they managed to gain access to that area , obviously i'd be extremely angry at them for lying but i'd be miffed at the fact they were believed if that makes sense ?

Exactly................kids can access any porn sites on the internet by making up their age and entering anyway, but I would hope parents would be keeping an eye on their yournger kids as to what they are looking at or accessing on thheir computers.....and this is NO PORN site anyway.

We have a 'member's only' section on another internet forum I use which is for over 18's and for people with a certain post count of valuable posts. It is in no way a porn forum or anything like that it is a pregnancy one ;) Members only is just somewhere that is away from public view so members can share things that they feel they cannot share on the public boards, also for humour intended for adult eyes only.

There are ways of ensuring that a private section is only accessible to over 18's.

dont members have to give there date of birth when they first join the forum. i did. i know some would make it up to make themselves look older, but for most it would show the right age.

that is true though there are programmes you can buy or obtain free of charge to block out that content and i seriously hope some parents use those. obviously it wouldnt block the content posted on here though would it if they did manage to gain access?

Alot will make up an age..............but no one will know for defo how old everyone is, unless a parent finds out they put wrong age down. They cant get into that area if they are under 18 anyway. so even if they make themselves a year of so older it wouldnt matter, they still couldnt access the area.

On another cat forum I am on, we have a private forum section, which is only for long-standing and trusted members. Not an adult chat as such, but more confidential. We discuss serious problems we don't want all the world to read, because they can be rather personal.

And, yes, we do have some banter, there, too.

Could we please have some place like that? A place for the regular grown-up (well, physically grown-up, anyway) crowd, only
Call it Pet Forums Confidential, for all I care....

I don't see a reason why any child would register on a pet forum as over 18 unless they happen to know there is an adult chat forum on it which I find unlikely as lots of members on here hadn't relised after years.

On the other hand, if under 18s are deliberately pretending to be older in order to get in, you can hardly claim that the mods are protecting 'innocent children' from things that aren't meant for them.

Kids like that will manage to get into places with genuinly adult content, which will appeal to their fancy much more than our old-people's-banter. The pics in adult were never pornographic, they were saucy at best, or simply silly, and kids can easily find them all over the internet, as none of them came from protected over-18 sites.

:scared: :crying: I'm not old lol

I agree completely with this though! None of the pictures I saw came from protected sites so are easily accessible to under 18's who want to find them.

I never went on anyway so not affected me but if lots enjoyed it can't it be reinstated but obviously doing some sort of declaration re being over 18 but had to be a member for say 6 or 12 months and with a certain number of posts? Or even by invitation only

Can't then see youngsters joining to hang around for 12 months or whatever making loads of posts so they can access adult on here

This forum might be a pet one, but looking at the posts in general, it appears obvious that members like a chat and a laugh about stuff other than pets, and for us over 18, that is going to involve the sort of comments we'd make whilst out with friends, which is naturally going to go a bit risqué. Maybe younger members do use here, but if they lie to get into inappropriate sections, when measures have been put up to prevent it, then sorry, it's not the forums fault, it's the fault of the parents for not watching their kids on the computer. In fact all this is doing is insulting us old enough (we've done the 'teacher' phase thanks), and making it more likely that younger ones see stuff they shouldn't because there is nowhere else for us to post. Fair enough if it was a glaringly obvious thread to click on, then there might be a problem, but for a hidden away one, viewable to no one except those that specifically requested access to it, then it seems a tad unfair that those of legal age are being put in the PG group. Leave us have our threads to have a laugh on, if the minors don't like it let em b*gger off to Cbeebies!

The only reason I didn't use 'Adult' so much was because it all went very quiet - strangely about the same time as Welshie had personal issues..... Singing: :D

However, it is great to have all my 'chums' in one forum area as I can jump between 'rooms' (Cat / General / Adult) without having to go elsewhere. Were we to join another area for the adult part of our interaction, there is a risk that more time would be spent there and not so much in PF which would be detrimental to the current excellent quality of PF.

It is fun to have 'grown up' banter with other members and there are days when this has stopped me going totally nuts due to other stress in my life.

My suggestion would be that we have a 'VIP Lounge' section and the criteria for entry is:

1. Entry after 1000 posts, hence VIP Lounge.

2. 'X' amount of rep points. This will help to ensure younger members stay out as not many under 18's get that many rep points. You can also tell, most of the time, from a large number of posts what age a member is.

3. Has to be over 18.

Surely the above would not be that difficult to administer?
