If I were to attach a ribbon bow around the body of my stick insect will it be okay?

Why would you want to do that?

Well, it's not. It's a living creature not a play thing to dress up and put bows on.

I assume this is a joke? I hope so.

If not - NO it’s a ridiculous idea and cruel, more’s the point!

Insects breath via spiricals, holes in their bodies. They also have an exo skeleton - an external skeleton. Apart from impeding its movement and adding a large amount of weight for limbs and body structure not designed to take such additional weight, the act of tying something to your stick insect will compromise it's breathing, may damage it's exoskeleton and also affect it's growth.

In short tying anything to you stick insect will cause it great discomfort and may well be fatal or at the very least cause severe injuries.

How about making a fake stick insect out of an old stick and some wire. You can get those stick on eyes to up the cute factor of your fake one. You can then use that to model all your fancy stick outfits rather than using a living creature. If you do make a pretend one and give it a bow feel free to post a picture here :)

You may think it's cute, but I'm very sure your Stick Insect wouldn't.
