I'm new to PetForums, so firstly HI! I've been thinking of finding a good pet forum for a while so I'm glad I've found one.

Now, I'm a future cat owner, meaning I currently do not own any pets. I plan on getting two cats as soon as I move into my own place. I know Birman cats are larger sized, whereas Russian Blues are medium sized cats. Would this be an issue or can they live together happily?

Its not the size of the cats but their energy levels and personalities.

Birmans are rather low energy, Russians are not overly active but may be too much for a Birm.
You would be best to ask breeders of the breeds, as they know their cats best.

@Tigermoon breeds Birmans, I don't think any current members breed Russians.

I think if they get together as kittens will accept each other most likely.
Important to get them in similar age. Obviously from registered breeders.

Size wise Birmans and Russians are pretty similar. While I've had kittens go to homes with a variety of other breeds, non had Russians. Having said that, I have heard of Russians living with other (non birman) semi longhaired breeds without issue so as long as you choose kittens with compatible characters and bring them home at the same time it may well work out well.

Thanks for the advice. Yes I do plan on getting both kittens around the same time, and same age from responsible breeders.
