I am getting a siberian kitten in January. I have a separate office at my parents house less than a mile from my house. I want to take the cat with me on a daily basis to my parents and bring it back in the evening home with me. Is it possible for a cat to have two homes like this?

We used to take our Siamese cat camping every weekend, to lots of different places. I think it will largely depend on the cat and how well he travels, I dont see a reason why it would be a problem, my parents live about the same distance and our cats often walk round with us plus Mum has seen one of them even without us.

That is good news, thanks so much for the reply. I was told that even if I start moving the cat around as a kitten it would be traumatic and that there would be a good chance that the cat would run away from my house and go to my parents house as it would be confused as to which is its own territory. Would this be a worry?

So, if your baby is always supervised outside, she won't be able to go back to the other building by herself. Cats quite like routine and if it is always the same places and people I would think she would settle in to the routine, I would harness train her though to make supervision a bit easier. A lot will depend on her individual character.

aggree on the harness too, Sparky had a harness with a long cord so he could go 'out' but he would be allowed off his harness at certain sites where he knew them well. As i said before it totally depends on the cat, the earlier you start doing things the more hey accept them really you'll soon know if he doesnt like it.
