Hi guys, me and my partner are looking to buy a British short hair kitten. We’ve been looking online and in regards to feeding them everything seems to be incredibly expensive. It’s not that we don’t want to give them good quality food but we’re just wondering if there’s anything that is a bit cheaper but still good quality. Thanks in advance

Hello @Skinnagram and welcome :)

Not sure which foods you've been looking at online that are "incredibly expensive"?

BSH cats can be fed the same good quality, good value wet food diet, that one would feed any other breed of cat, including non-pedigree cats. There is no need for a special diet.

Wet food is healthier for cats than dry food. Tinned/canned food is better value than pouches. Some people feed their cats a balanced raw meat diet.

Have a look at the pinned thread on the Health Boards, which gives details of the good quality wet foods sold on Zooplus. Go for foods that are below 10% carbs.

You're much better off investing in a better food which will not only work out better value as they'll eat less of it, because it's more filling, but it will also result in fewer vet bills due to dry causing renal problems
