brilliant way to exercise dogs

    I'm sure that there is a Bernese group that does this or similar, I think they have competitions on the smartest rig etc :)

    Apparently the Leonbergers get graded or something. It was the dogs second time driving that cart - and of course Candy volunteered to sit in it.

    Are Leonbergers bred to do this? (sorry to be so ignorant. I reaaly don't know much about the breed, except that they look magnificent! Is that a Leonberger :blush: )

    Looks like fun for Candy. I know someone does carting with her portugese water dog most of the bigger breeds can do it.

    There are draft tests all dogs that do it can get graded her's is grade 3 I think but she's in the US.

    Toffee had a go too but she tried to sniff the Leonbergers bum so had to keep her on the lead

    I read someone that years back Rottweilers used to pull the butchers carts to market or something ?? They seemed to have tonnes of jobs... guarding the meat, pulling the meat etc etc lol

    I heard somewhere that using a dog to pull a cart was made illegal in the Victorian era (England/UK).
