I am looking for a boot liner to cover floor and sides of VW golf hatchbaack boot.

VW are rather expensive, found a couple on the net -

Boot Liners Home - Boot Liners | Car Boot Liners | Load Liners | Boot Liner | Car Boot Liner | Load Liner Covers side and needs non slip mat for pooch, approx £100.
boot liner, boot mats, rubber mats, floor mats, car boot mats, dog mats, bedliner, load mats, audi, bmw, citroen, mercedes, ford, renault Rubber and non slip, not much of side covered but only £30.

    Any thoughts, comments, experience, recommendations?

just get one of those rubber backed mats and put it on the floor to protect the floor, you could even cut it to the correct shape u could do the same for the seat back too, we did it for the floor in our car, worked a treat :)
