We're considering switching our Maltese x Chihuahua, Tex, off of his current food (James Wellbeloved) and onto another since he's recently started vomiting (see my other post if you think you could help with that, please!) and were wondering what other foods people with similar dogs would recommend. (Just for reference, he's 3 years old and weighs around 3kg, he's very picky when it comes to food and won't eat for days if he doesn't like what he's given)

For Chihuahuas and other tinies, Chappie and Butchers Tripe are both safe bets. I add about a dessertspoonful of small mixer biscuits and/or cooked veggies. To the human nose, Chappie is stinkier than Butchers, but both seem to suit sensitive digestions. With a picky eater, and/or one who is prone to stomach upsets such as vomiting, I would break this down into two or three very small portions per day; with my riotously healthy bunch, they get a small breakfast and a larger portion in the evening. The other thing I would suggest is asking the vet for probiotic tablets, which do seem to settle digestive disorders very effectively.

lily's kitchen and nature's menu do the smaller trays (150g), my dog (also very fussy) loves the beef and tripe at the moment. I only buy the smaller trays because I was wasting so much! Also cook for him, which he seems to like, chicken thigh (skinless) carrot, peas, rice/quinoa seems to go down well and is really easy to do. I also bought a lambs heart and cooked that with veg, he sat by the cooker for that one!
