Bleurrch! I'd rather have seen 3 blue whales. Mind you, that pic'll be a great help for my diet. Might print out and stick on the fridge :p

I might have to do the same  it certainly put me off eating!

There's baby wipes too? probably most of them are suspended in the great clots of lard *bowk*

I heard that these were the original ingredients in 'George's Marvelous Medicine' but Quentin Blake refused to draw them.

I'm munching my lunch whilst I read it, but then again I work in the water industry so I'm used to images like this!

Yup, baby wipes are a huge problem too, they don't dissolve in water like loo roll does - you can see this if you fill a couple of jars full of water, put a couple of (clean!) squares of loo roll in one and a wet wipe in the other, then shake them evey ten minutes for a couple of hours and see what happens.

Because they don't break down like loo roll does, wet wipes also make blockages ten times worse as they act as reinforcing strips - a bit like rebar in concrete. That means blockages both become much bigger much quicker, and are a lot harder to break up and remove.

So, if you want to help keep your local water company bills low, then make sure human waste and loo roll are the only things that go down your sewers, as that's all they are designed to take!

(cat owners, flushable litter is fine, as it is does break up in water!)

I'd never thought of that before, I often drop a few wood pellets down the loo with the kitty doodoos  should I perhaps be putting them in the bin instead?

Wouldn't worry about that, no - I often used to lose a few pieces of CatSan before I switched to flushable clumping. :)

Obviously don't go shovelling it in, but a few stray pieces aren't anything to worry about - they'll just get washed along the line like other sand and gravel that gets washed in from storm drains etc.

The fat and wet wipes are much bigger problem because of the way they clog and bind themselves together into more than the sum of their parts, so to speak.

I can just about cope with manky water, but nothing on earth will make me eat stuff out of tins after working at a canning factory though
