Olivia was ‘groomed’ the other day. She is a very nervous cat and was sedated, however due to lashing out came out looking rather bedraggled. However it has allowed me to see her skin, which I’m not sure if it’s sore from her matted fur from not allowing me to groom her or if she has a skin condition does anyone have any ideas?

if she was sedated surely a vet groomed her? Or are you not in the UK?

    That looks very irritated.

Was the fur missing in those areas before she was groomed?

Have you taken her to a vet to rule out any skin issues?

Not as yet, it’s been the bank holiday and I was waiting to see if it was an irritation to the clippers. She had a small spot where her fur didn’t grow. When she had her jabs the vet did inspect her and said maybe it’s nerve, maybe a reaction to fleas as I’m her third owner, when I got her she had fleas and was even more aggressive/anxious than she is now.

Out of curiosity what did the groomers use to sedate her?

Didn't the groomer ask for permission first and tell you what she wanted to give?

Sounds very dodgy to me. In the UK effective sedation involves prescription only medication.

OMG that looks like razor burn and razor nicks, as your cat is nervous send pictures to vet and I'm sure you can get some treatment for her without actually taking to take her to vet

I’ve taken her to the vets today, they couldn’t determine the reson, she’s been given some steroids and told to put her on a hypoallergenic diet for a few months to see if there is any improvement. Fingers crossed
