They're listing it as a gerbilarium (a fish tank with a hamster cage stuck on top, it looks a bit dirty too) and they've put it as a kind of side note on the listing that the hamster is also avaliable :(

here is the listing if anyone fancies dropping them a message:

GERBILARIUM Hamstercage made from Fishtank + Cage on eBay (end time 13-Jul-09 10:56:18 BST)

i'd do it myself but I share an account with my parents so I don't want them seeing that i'm sending messages to people to tell them off

    Edit:

they've got a second one up too, saying exactly the same

I could but I don't wanna start stuff like that on my parents account, they'd just tell me not to get involved  they're not very pro-active with stuff like this :( would my parents know if I reported it? Like, will they get a message back or anything?

    thanks :)

I might just report it anyway, it's obviously not right to sell an animal over eBay... they can't say i'm doing anything wrong

anyway, i'm 19... I'll get involved with whatever I want LOL

    Thanks :D

I'll have a word with my mum later and if the listing is still up, i'll ask her if I can report it... hopefully she'll see the bad side of it and let me report it.

Still, if the listing gets removed from here, they'll probably just put it on freecycle or something  it's time they banned people from advertising animals, there's always puppies and kittens on our local freecycle :(

I thought freecycle didnt let people advertise animals?
My local one is very strict about it.

I think it depends on the area :( but my two local ones both allow people to advertise animals, it's terrible. It's usually puppies and kittens, but people sell older dogs/cats, rabbits and guinea pigs too. Smaller rodents don't tend to come up very often, surprisingly. I might get on to them about it or something, see if they can put a stop to it.

I have emailed the seller and recomended they come on here to try to sell the hamsters instead of on Ebay.Trouble with just reporting it you have to wonder what happens to the poor things.
Hopefully they will have luck on here.

It is against ebay rules to sell live animals unless they come under livefoods thats how African Land Snail sellers get away with it.

Although ive seen a few fish on ther ebefore so i dont know how they could get away with it :S

Ebay must have a huge backlog of messages though, so perhaps it will take a day or two more for them to notice. They should have employees combing auctions for violations like this though, oh well...
