I was just taking a photo of my escallonia earlier which is looking lovely at the moment.

I suddenly noticed a large leaf growing up through the bush and when I looked there was almost half a tree growing underneath. Does anyone recognise what this is? Is it a weed (well it is whatever it is as its growing in the wrong place).

I do know what that is but can't remember the name. It should have very small and fluffy yellow flowers.

Is it, or was it, ragwort?

I've got one growing in a pot. I wasn't sure what it was at first but now the buds have started to appear and could see what it was. I was going to pull it up then I realised it had a load of tiny cinnabar moth caterpillars, so it can stay a while and they can eat it all up

if you get one of these dont touch it - can cause irritation to the skin ok - they eat certain plants. I need to put some photos of my garden on here once they take the ban off!

This looks like chrysanthemum to me. Can grow quite tall, for cut flower displays, or dwarf in pots ( Tescos or anywhere for indoor display ). Not ragwort - but related.
