Hi everyone, realise its been a while since I've properly posted! I have been busy with life and as you can see by the thread title have recently been to America for a 10 day trip. Thought I'd share some pics here :)

We basically did a big road trip through New England, up to buffalo to see Niagara Falls and back.

We started at New York, flew out to JFK airport and spent a night there.

Statue of Liberty (incredibly blurry pic i know however it was the best i could get as it was misty)

Battery Park + Freedom Tower (New building that was built on Ground Zero/former site of the world trade centres)

We then moved onto Plymouth, Massachusetts for a night. Didn't get any pics here however we did go see this whilst we were there

Then onto Maine, we first went to see the Nubble Lighthouse/The Cape Neddick Light

Then we stayed in a cabin for 5 nights to break up the travelling, as you can see by the pics it was very snowy! Beautiful place though and good to walk in.

We also stayed in Vermont (imagine forests and mountains, its a popular skiing location in the season) and Pennsylvania

    TBC with Niagara pics

Niagara was by far my favourite part of the holiday (Maine did come close though). It really was so pretty and one of those places where pictures and videos don't do it justice. I'm really glad I've had the opportunity to see it myself in person. Its located in a big state park in Buffalo (USA side that is) which visitors are free to walk around. We did do a paid excursion into a cave where you could see one of the falls up close which was cool.

This was the Bridal Veil falls which we went down into the cave to see, you were able to stand very close to it. There was also a whole colony of gulls there!

This is the horseshoe falls which is the one you usually see on pics/videos. Unfortunately not a very good pic as the pathway to it was closed due to ice.

Couple of videos (fingers crossed they work!)

Did you? Any cool wildlife you got to see?

You did remember right, we didnt see any bears unfortunately. We did see an eagle fairly up close (no idea what kind). It had something fairly fresh and was sitting on a fence post as we were walking past. It took off before any of us could get pics but wow was he/she pretty.

We also saw a fairly large group of deer crossing a road and like i said at niagara the absolutely massive colony of gulls. We think it must have been around mating/ nesting season for them as a lot of them looked to be collecting materials for a nest and catching fish.

My mum was hoping to see moose around maine, but again no luck with that. The moose spotting guide we were reading though stated they are pretty reclusive so it seems to be people who have spotted them have gotten lucky.

What sort of local wildlife do you get in colorado?

    Looks like a fantastic trip...
I’ve been to Niagara twice (Canadian side but crossed over and spent the day on the US side) and it’s absolutely amazing... Such a mesmerising place... Can’t wait to go back again...

Oh, not in Colorado now, we're in the southeast now, near the southern end of the Appalachians. We get all sorts of fun wildlife around here, black bears included, but no cougars like we had in Colorado.
Currently there is an owl in the woods near our driveway, haven't seen him, but he does a great job of scaring the crap out of me hooting when I wasn't expecting it!

I have done the same trip, very fun and your pics bring back the memories. Did you go to the Canadian side of the falls? The view is better there side in my opinion.

Although we crossed over to Canada but without passports and couldn't get back in so had to drive further across the border and crossed at a different border point where they didn't care :Hilarious. Made for a good story though!

LOL at your border story, sounds like the kinda thing I'd do :Hilarious

The Canadian side is a lot more commercial than the US... Both sides bring different things...

Been to Toronto twice and spent time at Niagara on both trips...
My BIL married a Canadian (she was working in the UK at the time) and our first trip out was for the wedding and we went back two years after...
BIL and wife moved to Toronto 2 years ago so we’re planning on going again soon but travelling around a bit more...

I assume you traveled through New Hampshire which is my home state. I should've waved to you. :p Did you ever try some New England or New Hampshire maple syrup? Vermont is my favorite state in New England. Lots of pretty views and such. I remember seeing a video of New England from the air and it's gorgeous :)

Did you see any wild turkeys? I see them all the time and they were reintroduced here.

What's interesting about Vermont is that southern Vermont is more rural than northern Vermont. The opposite of New Hampshire and many other states.

I think we did yes, didn't stop over though. We did try the maple syrup actually, the cabin owner left some for us. It was nice, I love syrup though so would say that :p. It was all very pretty :)

What I do hear that people like doing in New Hampshire is going on the cog railway up Mt. Washington. I've only been up Mt. Washington once. It was interesting. :)
