I purchased 3 Amano shrimp to go with my Ghost shrimp who i've had from the start, they started off great and shedding well but when it came to feeding my corys, it was a total battle against wills :Jawdrop over a wafer but when my hubby clocked they had caught one of my otto's and killed him, they was soon removed but since reading about them they can be this aggressive.

That is a first for me. While Amano shrimp are very good at competing for food and are almost eating 24/7 I have never heard or read about them fighting. All I can do is recommend multiple feeding spots. If you spread out the food across your tank then there will be less for the shrimp to try and compete against.

I removed them after they captured one of my dwarf otto's and still ended up with one left but apparently amano shrimp and other shrimp we buy are passed off as those but being captured in the wild with so many, there is ones that eat fish and home owners with aquariums don't really know if they do own an amano shrimp.

I read this quite a while back so don't have a link sorry.

They are lovely to watch i will admit and if you have them regular molting then you water carries excellent nutrition for them and they enjoy a steady pH
