The shots I take around Alfies Oak
Today.....the only Painted Lady I've seen all year
Lovely pics Rona. I like the Dragonfly type one.
Great photos Rona
Gorgeous colours - particularly the last one.
Chased the little devil all over to try and make sure I got a good picture and that was the first one I took
I have posted photos on this site which I took, too!
Oh Rona I've not been on this forum for over a year, when did you lose Alfie? So sorry.
Popped up there at 5.45am this morning to wait for dawn. Saw some bats as I entered the field but no pictures, it was too dark and they too fast
Excuse the quality of these, it was just getting light
The view from his tree
Covered in Acorns
The Ash tree next door
Camera couldn't pick this up with the lack of light and so much movement, but I watched this Kestrel for a while
Looking back across the field to Alfies tree before I left for home
Beautiful photos - it looks so peaceful
It is that time in the morning. At peak dog walking time you might bump into a few and I avoid the place when the butterfly people are having a day up there. Annoys me so much that they trample through everywhere. Luckily they only seem to be there about 3 times a year
You take some wonderful photos Rona.
It's a beautiful spot
So much going on when we stop and properly look
Stunning photos Rona... What a beautiful spot to take in the scenery and remember times with Alfie.. Love them <3 xxx
I malign the butterfly people quite a lot and found that they had been there cutting the fields.
I entered with trepidation
I was so relieved to find that they had done exactly what I would have hoped.
I have been having chats with a couple of them over what's there and what would probably be best for the butterflies. We all agreed that grazing would be best but not feasible.
So glad I told them about Alfie's Purple Emperor, because they've left all the Sallow down that hedge
Looking towards Alfie's spot
More beautiful photos Rona, it really is a stunning spot and wonderful place.
I'm really looking forward to next year up there. It was a little too grown this year and I think the clearings will encourage so much more. I'll be waiting with baited breath to see if there's a Purple Emperor again
Up there at Dawn again this morning, such an uplifting place
Looks beautiful Rona, best time of the day
Beautiful Rona, Would make fantastic framed photos especially the one of the sun rise. a special place for a special boy who was loved so much, I like others never had the privilege of meeting Alfie in the end, but from your photos and stories feel like I knew him, and I can imagine him standing there.
