The one that would arrive quickest :D

Chigo. Wouldn't have been my first choice by any means but it came in a day

    I can't believe that 27c feels a comfortable temperature

I think Amcor and Comfee are good brands.
    No wonder you needed it!

I hang ice packs in front of my normal fan. It works like a charm :)

You can also buy air coolers which work on the same principle, often less than £100 but it does raise humidity and they're not as effective at reducing the actual air temp as air con.

Out of curiosity, if you turned on the air con an hour before bed and turned it off just before you sleep, would the air stay cool for a while afterwards or would it be warm again soon after? Sort of like what happens in a car?

I turned it off after about 2 hours and it took an hour before I had to turn it on again. I'm afraid nights are still going to be hot. :(

At least won't have to feel sick all day

Also known as redneck air cons or swamp coolers

I’ve been reading up about the so called super efficient air con units that only use 500watts. What a surprise it’s a lie. 500watts is the nominal or average wattage, it varies between say 270w and 970w. Of course when it’s proper hot or proper cold it’ll be 970w all day long. Lies! It’s a grand saving of 130w over my old machine.

Looks like I won’t be swapping my gas fire for air con.

As a side note, here in Spain one doesn’t get a lot of wattage supply. I am on the highest of 5kw. Can’t even run a kettle. Have to be careful buying appliances so I was madly excited!

To add to what rona said they also work best at maintaining temp not lowering so ideal is have it on before the room ever reaches the temp you want it set to. That's unlikely to be the case it you only put it on in the evening.

How are you getting on with your new unit

Ours went on a 6 this morning and it is a very pleasant 75 in here (old money) and 96 outside

Don't forget to empty the water tank, my friend did and wondered why it was not working:):)

I turned it off just before the sun went down last night and the effects (with fan on) lasted for about 2.5 hours.
Of course the air that the fan circulates is much cooler at night. At the moment it's blowing warm air at me and I'm just thinking of putting the AC on
