Anyone got one?
I feel ill when it's this hot and I really need to do something about it
I could do with one too. I have a vax air filter that blows out air but its not cold.
OH ought one years ago for when he was on night shift to let him sleep well
It is still going strong and we would not be without it
Todays models are quieter but they are all worth the money to feel cool and well
And Chilli likes it too
Have one, bought from homebase years ago for thunder, kept my whole downstairs a pleasant 20d yesterday, and this house, like last, is open plan, no doors downstairs
Wouldn't be without it
What makes and how do you flue them?
I have a Eurolec ac unit which is loud so sleeping with it on isn't an option for me but the relief it gives both myself and the dog is worth the noise IMO.
you have always been hot
Yes but I don't like it
Think ours is an Electrolux, it is over 25 years old and the labelling has worn off
It has a pipe that we put out of the patio door, the door is only open about 6 inches and does not effect the unit in any way; it works a treat and keeps all downstairs nice and cool
If an Electrolux, has last that time then it's worth a look. Is it noisy?
Noisier than todays models I should think but after a while I don't hear it any more
Ours is just a homebase own brand, as I say it's around 7 years old
Has a tube like a tumble drier and we vent it out of the window
We have a screen thing that stops the hot heated vented out from returning and keeps insects out
My fitted split air con has just blown up. I’ve been looking at Fujitsu ones that are only 500watts! More expensive to buy and they have to be fitted. I’ve worked out at 500watts that it would be cheaper to run than my gas bottled fire. And then I wouldn’t have to lug gas bottles all over the house!
Given in and just ordered the one that can be delivered tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's ok. It's got a lot of good reviews
I am sure you will find it a Godsend
Ours sure is this weather
I use a window unit. No venting. It is noisy. I'm not likely to ever be able to install central air though so it's better than nothing. One window unit in my kitchen keeps the whole house (single floor living) comfortable. I do have a fan in the living room to help pull the cooled air to this part of the house. Even the bedrooms are kept cooler, this way.
As some may know I've only been in the house a week. I've been wondering how well insulated it is, old houses sometimes aren't. But that little window ac in the kitchen is doing the job so I'm thinking they must have re-insulated when they re-sided.
I have a Dyson fan/heater which is pretty good on the cold setting, was not cheap though, it's in the sun lounge.
In the living room we had an ordinary fan & Son has one in his bedroom too.
Our central heating system also is an air con, but it's useless.
I've used one of those while house sitting. I didn't rate it much.
Anyway, my AC is arriving lunchtime today
I'll never want to go out
How expensive are they to run?
It's arrived an hour ago and the temperature has gone down 3c in my living room already
What one did you get?
